Brad Mielke is the host of the ABC News daily news podcast “Start
Here,” which takes a straightforward look at the day’s top news in
20 minutes.

Mielke has interviewed some of the biggest newsmakers, including
President Donald Trump, former Vice President Kamala Harris, Pete
Buttigieg, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Steve Mnuchin, Sec. Marco Rubio, Rep.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, James Comey, Bill Gates, Dr. Anthony Fauci
and more.

Since its launch in March 2018, “Start Here” has covered the
world’s biggest events and taken in-depth looks at how they shape
American lives, earning Edward R. Murrow Awards for Innovation,
Excellence in Sound, Hard News and Continuing Coverage. The show has
won a Webby Award for Best News & Politics Podcast, as well as the
first National Press Club Award at the New York Festivals Radio Awards
for its coverage of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision.

During the 2016 election, Mielke served as a campaign digital
journalist, traveling across the country to interview candidates and
voters. Since then, he has remained on the front lines of ABC News’
political coverage, hosting several politics shows on ABC Radio while
covering breaking news and political stories across the country.
He’s also a contributor to ABC News Live.

In 2015, Mielke won an Edward R. Murrow Award for his inventive,
sound-rich documentary on extreme obstacle course racing, suffering
many aches and pains in the process.

Prior to his time at ABC News, Mielke worked at New York Public Radio,
where he helped produce “The Takeaway.” A native of San Juan
Capistrano, California, he graduated with a journalism degree from New
York University. He lives with his wife and dog in Brooklyn.
